The difference between dermal fillers and wrinkle reduction

An SWNS Digital survey recent asked 1,800 women, of an age between 50 and 70, how much they would be willing to spend on looking glamorous and the result was surprising. The average figure was £1,783 per year. Here at Westfield Aesthetics, we can provide you with real value for money without compromising on the top quality of the service and products we provide. We do this through investing in our team and our treatments such as dermal fillers and wrinkle reduction.

Our team of experienced practitioners have had extensive aesthetic training in order to be in a position to give you the best possible advice on which treatments are going to suit your individual ageing process. We’re not simply going to suggest you try a bit of everything to see what works. We’ll invite you to our clinic for a consultation and thorough skin assessment, in order to determine the best course of wrinkle reduction treatment for you. Let’s have a look at our two most popular treatments; dermal fillers and anti-ageing injections.

How do dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti wrinkle injections work by preventing the muscles in your upper face from contracting. It’s these muscle contractions that cause wrinkles to form. Botulinum toxin is the substance in the injection. This is a treatment that has a great safety record and is known to be very effective; so effective in fact, that most of the wrinkle reduction customers who have tried this product are so pleased with their rejuvenations, they return to us time and time again for top up treatments.

Dermal fillers are also delivered by injection. Like anti wrinkle injections, they take under 30 minutes to administer, they’re relatively pain free and don’t involve any down time, so you can return to work immediately following the procedure. However, they are best applied on the lower face and they contain a substance called hyaluronic acid. Once this is injected it soaks up water under the skin, pushing out wrinkles, by applying pressure to the skin above. Additionally, dermal fillers can add volume to thinning skin to give you a more youthfully plump skin density.

What sort of results can you achieve from these treatments?

Forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet are most commonly treated with anti wrinkle injections, while the lines that stretch from the nose to the mouth and from the mouth to the chin respond better to dermal fillers.

Lip fillers are another form of dermal filler, which are used exclusively on the lips themselves, as well as the lip borders, to add volume to thinning lips, give them more even proportions, or even change the shape of them, should that be your preference.
